As the name, Howick Historical Village, truly suggests, this living museum presents life during the early European settlement of Auckland.
This local treasure should be on every visitor's “must see list” in the City! The Village is loaded with most extensive collections of early colonial buildings in New Zealand including cottages, schools, a forge and general store. Visitors can stroll around the Village and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this unique attraction.
It was opened in 1980 by the Governor General Sir Keith Holyoake. The Village contains over 30 buildings. At the entrance to the Village, the shop features a range of 'toys of yesteryear', books and tea towels as well as a host of gift items.
There are picnic areas available, wheelchairs and wheelchair accessible toilets, a mobility scooter and free car parking.
